Hundreds of residents from all walks of life boarded the Rising Sun 1860 MSC Musica, in celebration of the 158 years arrival of Indians to South Africa, over the weekend.
The celebrations kicked off with an exciting Sail Away Party at the pool deck which was led by DJ Sash, who had the crowd asking for more music as they danced to his tunes.
The weekend proceeded with loads of exciting activities which included loads of entertainment and prize give-aways.
One of the country’s hottest DJs and producer, Skechy Bongo did what he does best and kept the passengers dancing the weekend away.
Keeping up with the 1860 arrival of Indians to South Africa theme, passengers were taken back to yesteryear with entertainment by Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs favorites, Yumna Ajin and Jayas Kumar.
Another Bollywood act who had passengers screaming for more was Chethan Rana. The non-stop entertainment and music also included performance by the Rising Sun Show Band with a fusion of South African acts the likes of Bollywood Majestix, Khombi and comedy by Senzo Mthethwa.
Passengers had the amazing experience to explore and have lunch at the Portuguese Island on Saturday.
However, one of the many highlights of the cruise included the Fusion Party which featured the best dressed person in 1860 Indian theme winning a trip to India sponsored by Serendipity Tours.
The grand trip was won by Phoenix resident, and excited Tharamathie Ramlakan who said she can’t wait to explore the beautiful country of India.
The exciting weekend ended on a high note as the headline acts put on an extravagant show as they took the passengers down memory and back to present SA time with back to back favourites.
