Thousands of Makro customers patiently waiting in line to take advantage of the sales and offers of the grand opening in Cornubia, last Wednesday.

After years of planning and months of intensive preparation, Makro Cornubia finally opened its first class standard warehouse to the public in Cornubia, last Wednesday.
The 19 100m2 in size warehouse saw thousands of customers as early as 5am at its doors to take advantage of the grand opening sales.
During the Makro Cornubia VIP tour, Chris Jones, general manager of Makro Cornubia promised to blow customers away with state of the art innovation.
“Unlike all the other Makro stores, the Cornubia store is expected to blow customers way. One of the highlights for the new Cornubia Makro store is the online drive through. Customers can order products online and have them loaded into their vehicles. This is really an innovation for us,” he said.

The 6.13 hectares of land was crowded with customers who drove to the new warehouse to take advantage of the grand opening sales.
Roads leading up to the warehouse were jam-packed with customers sitting patiently in traffic, hoping to get parking.

Speaking to the Phoenix Sun, one of the customers expressed his excitement about the some of Makro’s innovations. “I am more excited about the Makro drive through. I can order whatever I want online and just drive through to pick it up. I do not have to step out of the comfort of my vehicle and walk inside the warehouse to collect my package. All that is required of is to literally roll down my window,” said an excited Armstrong Zulu.
“I love how organised the new Makro is. The aisles flow into each other, I did not have to walk the entire store to find what my wife wrote on our shopping list. I also love the idea of a restaurant in the warehouse, we can have lunch while shopping,” Peter Bricknell said.
With over thousands that attended the grand opening, King Goodwill Zwelithini, and mayor of the eThekwini Municipality, Zandile Gumede, were some of the prominent guests that were present at the grand opening of Makro Cornubia.
