On 26 January, Law Enforcement Marine Unit officers patrolling the Wolfgat Nature Reserve area on the False Bay coastline, an area where bodies are routinely disposed of, observed two Toyota Quantums, parked behind a gate on one of the entrance roads to the reserve. The officers cautiously approached and an adult male exited the vehicle through a side window. He had severe head injuries and was bleeding profusely. It was clear he had been severely assaulted. There were 6 adult males in the vehicles and the officers detained all 6 on suspicion of assault with the intention to commit grievous bodily harm. The victim was taken to hospital by ambulance and the 6 suspects transported to SAPS so that the matter can be further investigated by SAPS. The timely intervention by the officers saved the victim from even more serious injury.
