VARIOUS ARRESTS DURING THE WEEK OF 27 AUGUST 2018 till 02 SEPTEMBER 2018 IN THE MILNERTON CLUSTER, WESTERN CAPE

THE MILNERTON CLUSTER IN THE WESTERN CAPE CONSISTS OF NINE STATIONS: ATLANTIS, DARLING, MALMESBURY, MELKBOSSTRAND, MILNERTON, MOORREESBURG, PHILIDELPHIA, RIEBEECK WEST AND TABLE VIEW

During this period a total of 391 arrests were made in the Milnerton Cluster for various crimes ranging from bribery, robbery, murder, rape, house breaking, possession of illegal substances (drugs), to house robbery.

On Tuesday, 28 August 2018 Darling Police arrested a 31-year-old male after he had broken into a house the previous day. The owner of the house had left to drop a family member at work, when he returned twenty minutes later, he discovered the suspect on his property. Darling Police was contacted and a description was provided after the suspect fled the scene. The suspect evaded arrest, but only for a few hours. After following up on leads, the suspect was arrested by Darling Police officers.

Malmesbury Police arrested a 28-year-old suspect on 31 August 2018 after he had broken into a property on a farm in Malmesbury during the early hours of the morning. The complainant received a notification that an alarm was activated on one of his farms, when he went to investigate, he discovered the suspect inside the property on the farm. He contacted the police who arrived swiftly and arrested the suspect.

A 21-year-old suspect was arrested on Friday, 31 August 2018 by Atlantis Police for a house robbery he had committed on 21 August 2018. The known suspect entered the house of the victim shortly after noon on 21 August 2018, assaulted the victim and took a television before fleeing on foot.

Milnerton Police arrested at 24-year-old male on Saturday, 01 September 2018 for murder. The man was socialising with the victim and a few other friends in Du Noon on Friday, 31 August 2018, when an argument ensued between the suspect and the victim. The accused went to fetch a knife, returned, and started to stab the victim multiple times. The victim was taken to a nearby medical facility, where he had succumbed to his injuries. The investigating officer traced the suspect and arrested him the following day.

Atlantis Police arrested two suspects for a murder they had committed in March this year. It is alleged that the suspects assaulted the victim, who had died due to the injuries he had sustained. A task team followed up on information and traced one of the suspects, aged 18 on the 27th of August 2018, and he was arrested. On Saturday 01 September 2018 the second suspect, aged, 28 was arrested. The men were charged with murder.

On 01 September 2018 Atlantis Police received information that police uniform was buried in the back yard of a suspect’s home in Parma Lane, Atlantis. The information was followed up and a 17-year-old juvenile was arrested. Further police investigation will determine how the suspect got to be in possession of the uniform.

A 29-year-old man was arrested on Saturday 01 September 2018 after he had bribed a traffic officer with cash to avoid a fine for talking on his cellular phone whilst driving on the West Coast Road near Table View. The incident occurred shortly before noon.
