WOMEN’S MONTH – JOINT AWARENESS CAMPAIGN AT BAYSIDE MALL
As part of Women’s month celebrations, a few partners got together to create awareness on domestic violence, sexual offences and general safety for women and to interact with community at Bayside Mall, Table View, on Thursday, 23 August 2018.
The following partners joined Table View Police in the awareness campaign: Community Intervention Centre volunteers and Tender Love and Care volunteers.
The ladies who participated in the distribution of pamphlets, handing out of whistles, and interaction with the community, were treated to a breakfast afterwards, compliments of the Table View Community Police Forum.
The feedback from the community at the mall was overwhelmingly positive, who welcomed this initiative by SAPS and their partners. They agreed that informing the community and creating this type of awareness is vital at public areas, and they appreciated the interaction.
One recipient confided to one of the volunteers that she was a victim of domestic violence, but was too scared to ask for help. She was assisted immediately with advice and guidance in this respect.
The Christian Literature Fund also provided a few pamphlets regarding the different types of abuse, which was part of the awareness campaign. They are thanked for being a silent partner in the fight against crimes against women and children.
Table View Police management would like to thank all partners in this campaign, as well as the Management of Bayside Mall for allowing this campaign to take place on their premises.
