The firearm and ammunition recovered during the arrest.

Phoenix SAPS arrested three men for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and the unlawful possession of ammunition at a garage in Longcroft, recently.

Police proceeded to the garage and noticed a grey bakkie parked with no rear registration plate.
Upon seeing the police vehicle, the suspects began to reverse. Police stopped the vehicle and conducted a search.
There were three suspects in the vehicle, one of them had a sling bag around his neck. The firearm and ammunition were inside the bag.

Cpt Louise Naidoo, communications officer of Phoenix SAPS, said, “The serial number was filed off. 100 9mm live rounds and twenty 38 special live rounds were also found in the bag. The suspects were arrested. The vehicle was checked and came up negative as it belongs to the driver.”
