Metro Police had a busy night last night. Just after 7pm, a 56-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of Tik and counterfeit cigarettes in Strand. Officers on patrol in the area received information about drug dealing from a tuck shop.

 

The owner claimed he couldn’t get into the shop as his wife had the key, but later went inside, not knowing that officers were watching him. 

 

A search of the premises revealed a bag containing 40 packets of tik, just under R500 in cash, and 240 packets of JFK counterfeit cigarettes in a brown box. He was arrested and detained at Strand SAPS.

 

The same group of officers arrested a suspect in Garden Village, Somerset West less than two hours later, thanks to a tip off.

 

They found 480 mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R24 000 and  R1 759 in cash hidden under clothes in a drawer. He was detained at Somerset West SAPS. 

 

In Happy Valley, officers arrested three suspects for possession of dagga. The officers were on patrol and noticed the suspects running away as they approached. One of them dropped something that tirned out to be a dagga stop. After he was apprehended, he showed officers where he bought the drugs.

 

A search of the premises revealed a bag of dagga containing 19 sachets, 43 stoppe, 7  parcels wrapped in newspaper and 14  parcels in sachets as well as R1 783, 50 in cash respectively. The suspects, aged 45, 31 and 25, were detained at Mfuleni SAPS.
