Metrorail says it will boost security on trains to ensure the safety of commuters. Metrorail Regional Manager in the Western Cape, Richard Walker, says they’ve met with social movement UniteBehind to try and find solutions to some of their concerns. The movement has launched the #DelayRepay campaign in Cape Town. It aims to encourage commuters to use paid-up Metrorail tickets for two consecutive months to compensate them for time lost due to train cancellations. Walker says all the concerns will be looked at.

  1. ……
South Africans, Cape Town in particular should take up #ARMS – Audit and Risk Management Solutions against PRASA and Metrorail.

The existing obsolete rail system is unable to deliver train services that are reliable and predictable, yet the cost associated with the operations and maintenance of this system are disproportionately high.

Consequently the role of #PRASA and #Metrorail management are not investigated. Suspend the Operational Manager and executive Manager in charge of security and get those wheels rolling.
