The Minority Front recently undertook a massive sanitary pad distribution drive throughout the province.
The project which was the brainchild of MF leader, Mrs Shameen Thakur Rajbansi was sparked by a discussion with officials of the United Nations Organisation.
Speaking of the project, Mrs ST Rajbansi, said that she had petitioned parliament to conduct a distribution to schools to prevent absenteeism among girls during their menstrual cycle as well as to provide dignity to the girl child.

“The distribution which was done by the Department of Education was fraught with scandal and controversy. The party then decided to do its own distribution to schools which did not receive and to schools that no longer had any supplies. This year-end initiative is aimed at supplying girls during the December/ January vacation,” she said.
Cllr Jonathan Annipen, who was responsible for the distribution co-ordination, said that the project was widely appreciated by schools and pupils alike.
“This is a sensitive matter that many people don’t want to converse about. However, it is a topic that we cannot afford to avoid. It compromises the hygiene, health dignity and in many regards the education of the girl clinical. The MF has been forward thinking in this regard and believes that we can curb many of this challenges by meaningful ways,” he added.
