A TAXI driver claims Mmusi Maimane’s face is chasing away potential passengers.Jomo Motau said taxi drivers in Tshwane want the DA’s campaign posters to be removed from their vehicles.“ANC and EFF supporters don’t want to board our taxis because of the DA leader’s head,” he said.Jomo said businessman Shadwel Mfundi promised to pay the taximen if they let him brand 10 of their taxis with images of Maimane. He said Mfundi promised to pay them R1 000 in the first month and R500 for another two months. The taxis were branded last Wednesday and Thursday, but none of the drivers has been paid yet. “Mfundi says load shedding is to blame for the payment delays.”Mfundi said: “They will be paid soon.” Aimee Franklin, the DA’s executive director of marketing, said the branding looks like the work of a con man. “The DA manages the branding of all taxis through a transit media company and a taxi driver is paid upfront with strict written contracts,” she said. “We take this incredibly seriously and will speak to the affected people and help bring the culprit to book.”
