More details are expected later today on some form of agreement reached between various stakeholders, including government, on the blacking out of the Premier Soccer League matches on SABC platforms. Sports Minister, Nathi Mthethwa and his Communications counterpart, Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams, met with representatives of the PSL, SABC and Multi-Choice in Cape Town last night. A joint statement was issued in which the parties announced that they had ‘found each other’. No PSL soccer matches have been shown since the beginning of the season this month on SABC stations. This after the public broadcaster was expected to pay Supersport R280-million for 144 matches per year for a period of five years. The SABC says it does not have the money.
