The search for a missing 60-year-old man came to a tragic end after his body was discovered buried in a bush along the N2, near the Mandeni Toll Plaza, north of Durban, on Friday morning.
While the motive for the murder has not been established at this stage, an investigation is ongoing to uncover the details which led to the man’s death.

The victim was reported missing by his family after he failed to return home on Thursday.
His bakkie was recovered on Friday morning by police after the tracking device was activated. An excavator belonging to the deceased was also recovered in the vicinity.
According to a report issued by Reaction Unit South Africa, the victim’s employee was seated in the excavator and fled on foot when he noticed police and security officers approaching him.
“A licensed firearm containing a fully loaded magazine belonging to him was recovered at the scene. With the use of specialised dogs, the area was searched and the body of the victim was discovered buried near the highway,” the report indicated.

The report alleged that the employee murdered the victim and used the excavator to dig the hole where he was buried.
This has yet to be confirmed by authorities.
