WHEN Magezi Chauke (35) went to the bush, his aim was to answer the call of nature. But he spotted a burning candle on the pathway before he could relieve himself under a tree. Magezi was shocked when the bizarre events unfolded on Wednesday at Nthlaveni Block D outside Malamulele, Limpopo. Still reeling from shock, Magezi called the SunTeam to witness the strange sight. When SunTeam arrived , the candle was still burning. Magezi said: “First I was scared and wanted to run away. But then I got the courage and went closer. I looked around to see if there was a person who lit the candle. But unfortunately there was no sign of anyone. Then I called Daily Sun.” Asked if it was first time he’d found a burning candle in the bush, he responded: “I have never come across such a strange event before in my life. The only problem I have is that I don’t know the meaning behind the burning candle.” The SunTeam spoke to a traditional healer to find out his views.Traditional healer Nwa-xithlangoma Chauke (66) said: “Magezi need not be afraid of what he saw in the bush. When a sangoma or prophet gives you a candle to burn on a pathway in the bush, it is meant to remove bad luck and evil spirits from that particular person. “So Magezi can relax, he’s not going to die because of it.”
