Newborn baby boy left for dead in Everest Heights

The child was examined and appears to be in good health. He will be transported to hospital for further medical evaluation.

Reaction officers are working tirelessly to establish the whereabouts of a mother of a newborn baby boy, who was found in a bin packet dumped along Olivine Road in Everest Heights, earlier today.

At about 2:29pm, Reaction Unit South Africa was called out to the scene by a member of the public, who heard a child crying inside the bin packet.
The baby boy was found in a bin packet.
Upon opening the bag, he discovered the baby wrapped in a denim dress.
Reaction officers were immediately dispatched to the location and upon arrival, they cut the umbilical cord which was still attached to the placenta.
