Teenager in police custody for murder
EASTERN CAPE: Willowvale SAPS arrested a 17-year-old boy following a stabbing incident, which claimed the life of a 19-year-old youngster.
Police reports allege that on Sunday, July 14, at about 12:45am, the accused and the deceased had a misunderstanding at Ntshingeni Locality, Chafutweni Village.

Both of them began to fight with sticks and thereafter, the 19-year-old withdrew a knife. The accused allegedly overpowered the 19-year-old and took the knife from him.
“It is alleged that the youngster was fatally stabbed on his upper body. The accused was arrested and then handed over to his parents as he is still a minor. He appeared in the Willowvale Magistrates Court on Monday, facing a murder charge,” police reports indicated.
Life term for man who raped a 59-year-old woman
KWAZULU-NATAL: A 35-year-old man, who was found guilty of raping a 59-year-old woman, was sentenced to life imprisonment and an additional three years for house break-in.
After returning from home from a ceremony on September 6, 2015, Thabane Luthuli broke into the victim’s house where he severely assaulted and raped her.

Neighbours found her the following morning and alerted police. The accused fled the area but was apprehended in February 2017, where he was charged to face trial.
He was sentenced in the Ixopo Magistrates Court.
Sgt Sifiso Gigaba of the Port Shepstone FCS unit was the investigating officer in the matter.
Business robbery suspect killed in shootout with police
LIMPOPO: One suspect was killed and another apprehended following a sting operation conducted by operational members of Limpopo and Mpumlanga, the Limpopo tracking team, intervention unit and Burgersfort K9 Unit in Burgersfort cluster, last week.
According to information received, police officers responded to a report of business robbery at a local shopping complex.

They managed to identify the suspects vehicle at Ga-Masha and attempted to stop it, but the suspects instead started shooting at the police, who retaliated.
During the arrest, a motor vehicle, two firearms and a bag of money were seized.
The identity of the fatally wounded suspect and the origin of all the recovered items is still under investigation.
