Off-duty policewoman killed during domestic dispute
KWAZULU-NATAL: The acting provincial commissioner for KZN, Lt Gen Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi has condemned the latest murder of a police officer, who was allegedly killed by her partner during a domestic dispute in Sundumbili.
The 40-year-old sergeant was based at Mandeni SAPS, according to a statement released by provincial police.
“We are angered and disturbed by the news that a sergeant was killed by her partner while she was off-duty. The South African Police Services has been robbed of yet another foot soldier in such an unnecessary and tragic manner,” said Lt Gen Mkhwanazi.

Provincial police extended their deepest condolences to the victim’s family and colleagues, who are understandably still shocked.
“Our employee health and wellness officials will render the necessary support to them during this unfortunate period,” added Lt Gen Mkhwanazi.
The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds to her body and died at the scene.
Brig Jay Naicker, provincial police spokesman, said a 43-year-old suspect later handed himself over to police. He will appear in court soon.
“A firearm suspected to be used in the commission of crime was also seized by police. Police at Sundumbili are investigating a case of murder,” said Brig Naicker.
Cash-in-transit suspects captured within hours after robbery
PRETORIA: A joint operation by police led to the apprehension of four suspected cash-in-transit robbers on the N1 just outside Sasolburg, a few hours after the crime had been committed.
Police reports indicate that a substantial amount of month was found hidden inside the door panels of the car.

National commissioner of police, Gen Khehla John Sithole commended the team following the speedy and efficient arrests.
“Since the implementation of the 72-hour activation plan, we are achieving greater successes in tracking down and arresting perpetrators of serious crimes,” he said.
Detectives are expected to make more arrests in this case. Investigations are ongoing.
Mandrax tablets worth thousands seized in Kimberley
NORTHERN CAPE: The fight against drugs was solidified by Galeshewe police after they seized mandrax pills worth R120, 000 and in addition, arrested a 32-year-old man for drug dealing, recently.
The Kimberley Flying Squad, with the assistance of Crime Intelligence, followed up on information regarding drug dealing at a specific premises in the area prior to the discovery.
“The suspect as well as the premises were searched and 1201, 5 mandrax tablets worth an estimated R120, 000 were confiscated by the men and women in blue,” police reports pointed out.

The SAPS in the Northern Cape are dedicated in eradicating drugs and drug dealing within the province.
“Drug and substance abuse contributes to the commission of various crimes, including serious and violent crimes. Communities are urged to continue working with the police by reporting any suspicions of crime to 08600-10111,” the report added.
