Special guests and members of Karate SA at the official launch.

It was a grand affair indeed as the launch of the ninth Commonwealth Karate Championship got underway at the Olive Convention Centre, earlier this week.
The exciting championships will be taking place from November 28 to December 2 and will be proudly hosted by Karate South Africa.
Around 700 athletes from 15 countries are expected to attend the event.
Organisers have confirmed that athletes, LOC and team officials will be accommodated a number of hotels, situated along the Durban beachfront.
Karate is the second largest sport in the world and the Durban LOC is therefore honoured to host a tournament of this magnitude.
Their intention is to make the championships a world class event.
“This event will put Durban on the map as it will increase tourism and create business for hotels, restaurants and tour operators,” Durban LOC said.
