One of the world’s biggest classical stars, Andrea Bocelli, has announced two concerts in South Africa in April this year. Big Concerts International has just confirmed opening at the Ticketpro Dome in Johannesburg on April the 18th, and on the 22nd at Val de Vie near Paarl outside Cape Town. The promoter says local fans are in for a big show piece with 140 South African classical musicians and choir members backing the sought-after humble Italian singer. The concerts will be split into two parts, with Bocelli singing opera arias during the first half, and his popular hits and crossover songs in the second part. The tenor’s son, 20 year-old Matteo will also join his father on stage to sing their current hit, “Fall on Me”. The sixty year- old blind icon returns to South Africa after singing at one of the exclusive and by- invitation- only 2010 Soccer World Cup events nine years ago. The latest announcement comes as the country’s packed international diary of performers this year opens tonight with shows of British singer / songwriter, James Morrison in Johannesburg. Thirteen big acts have so far confirmed concerts in South Africa for the first part of 2019.
