Operations Commander of the Anti-Gang Unit in the Western Cape, Colonel Andre Roziers says the unit is working hard to provide a safe and secure environment for communities on the Cape Flats. President Cyril Ramaphosa and Police Minister Bheki Cele officially launched the unit earlier this month in Hanover Park. Since its deployment last month, more than 100 arrests have been made and over 260 gang strongholds have been searched. The SABC went on an exclusive ride with the unit on one of their operations in the Kraaifontein area, where Colonel Roziers and his teams were in action.” We received information from the community and then we operationalise this information. We identified a prominent gang leader in the Scottsville area in Kraaifontein. Remember that Kraaifontein is one of the areas which is the top five for murders in our country. We confiscated an undisclosed amount of money and a 38 special revolver.” Residents of nearby Scottsdene say they feel safer now that the Anti Gang Unit is operating in the area. “In the past you couldn’t even walk to the shop at night and then they shooting and people are dying in front of you and they hitting people dead and so on, but I’m very glad that the government and the police are doing their job.”

  1. Well done to the Commander in Chief, and obviously to Admin n staff for sharing this very important information.

I so wish this raid could also happen in Phillipi East, an area ranked number 3rd with murder rates in the Country. Locals fear for their lives there, and serious intervention is needed sooner than later, particularly Lower Crossroads area.
