Outgoing Cape Town Mayor, Patricia de Lille, has handed the keys of brand new…

Outgoing Cape Town Mayor, Patricia de Lille, has handed the keys of brand new houses to 60 first time home owners at Morkel’s Cottage in the Strand. Upon completion, the project will provide 547 semi-detached and single storey homes by 2019. The first three phases of the project have been completed. De Lille says she is pleased with the progress: “The city has spent about R146 million on this project so far to build 547 semi-detached homes. I visited the project months ago and I’m very happy that we could keep our promise and I handed out the keys to families who have been living in informal settlements around the Strand for more than two decades.”
