Parents in Atlantis are fearing for the lives of their children after two attacks…

Parents in Atlantis are fearing for the lives of their children after two attacks on boys who have refused to join local gangs.
Last Tuesday, a 19-year-old matric boy was stabbed NINE times by a group of gangsters in Reygersdal Drive, just outside Proteus Secondary School.

His mother says the skollies even tried to “finish him off” while paramedics tried to help her son.

“The ambulance driver told me the guys wanted to come in the van as if to finish him off,” the mother says.

The seriously injured teen, who was rushed to the local hospital, sustained stab wounds to his neck and back.

He currently has a drainage pipe in his lung for the internal bleeding.

His mother says her son’s friend was also attacked with bricks during Ramadaan.

This after the boys had refused to become skollies.

“On Monday evening, he told me he did not want to go to school,” the mom explains.

“He said he does not feel safe and says he feels those guys (skollies) could just come into their class and attack them.

“I told him not to worry and go to school as this is his final year.

“The morning of the stabbing, I called the school several times.

“I wanted to speak to the principal and ask him to have police patrol the area, but he never called me back.

“The school only called to say my son was stabbed,” the distraught mother explains.

She says authorities should do more to keep kids safe: “This happened outside the school grounds, but I want to take this further.

“The school’s CCTV footage shows the group of guys came from three angles at my son. I cannot even say how many they were.

“I want to put a stop to this. I know our lives are in danger, but my kinders moet nog kinders kry,” she says.

According to residents who spoke to the Daily Voice, two gangs, the Horribles and the G-Units, have formed an alliance and are trying to get new recruits.

Another parent, whose daughter is also in matric, says the children fear going to school.

“All the children are scared now. They are being targeted for refusing to join the gangs.”

She said parents have started a support group.

Police spokesperson, Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana, confirmed a case of attempted murder has been opened for investigation and no arrests have been made.

“Police conduct regular patrols around the school,” Rwexana added.

The Western Cape Education Department’s Director of Communications, Bronagh Hammond, says the school has requested more police visibility.

“In fact, the police were patrolling around the school the day before the most recent stabbing occurred,” she says.

“The school has employed someone to patrol the school during school hours and to monitor access control.

“The school also has security cameras.”

  1. I wonder how did our youth get attracted to this nonsense. I fail to understand how such a purposeless life can have the ability to absorb all tomorrow’s leaders. I’m not being negative but I don’t think eradicating this demon will be easy, it’s like a fashion trend for our “laaities”.

Government can start by increasing police visibility and bring back the death penalty. The soft gloved hand of the current system has failed and is in ICU.
Urgent changes or amendments to the Criminal Procedure Act and the useless Constitution must be done or we will never overcome this and criminals will rule the streets fearlessly.

  2. No wonder theres old people in the parliament. Our youth is just busy with crap and the government’s focus is on state capture
