Phoenix SAPS would like to warn the community of an ongoing scam in which criminals dress up as police officers and steal money from victims.

They will ask you to go with them to count and share the money and while this is happening, a vehicle will arrive and the occupants of the vehicle will pretend to be police officers and inform you that you are under arrest.
“They then take your own money and place it in an envelope and hours after they have dropped you off, will you have realised that the envelope is only full of papers and not your money. The person who finds the money at the same time as you is also in on the scam,” she added.
Community members are encouraged to alert the security guard at the bank and to call the police, should they find themselves in a situation similar to this.
