A special cake was baked for the occasion.

The ambiance at the Phoenix Villagers Athletic Club’s banquet night was electrifying and rightfully so as excitement had been mounting for months on end.
The overwhelmingly successful event, held at the Earlington Hall, saw athletes being honoured for their various achievements.
Beautifully designed trophies, which encapsulated the prestigious nature of the function, were presented in various categories, using mileage as one of the criteria with the other being best times achieved.
The Comrades finishers were awarded including those who did not complete the race but went past the 42 km mark and came into the ultra marathon category.
The junior sportsperson of the year was Wassim Ramathulla. Jabulani Nzimande scooped the sportsman of the year award while Davitha Jankhi was awarded with the sportswoman trophy of the year.

Awardees in the special awards category were Neela Devasagayam, Ram and Haroon Yousuph.
The chairman’s award was presented to Rishigen Reddy, who went beyond his call of duty throughout the year in ensuring the smooth running of the club.
Running one Comrades Marathon is no easy task, however, Rajesh Booplal completed 20 and was honoured for his iconic achievement.
It was a ‘wow’ feeling as one entered the hall. The decor was stunning in keeping with the PVAC colours. The buffet menu was divine and was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
The management of PVAC extended their sincere congratulations to all recipients and wish to compliment the banquet committee for a sterling job done. Those who assisted individually were also thanked.
