Participants who took on the 42, 2km and 21, 1km races respectively.
The intense heat did not deter the members of the Phoenix Villagers Athletic Club from excelling at the Goss and Balfe Sapphire Marathon, over the weekend.
Hosted by the Amanzimtoti Athletic Club, the marathon consisted of a scenic and undulating run along the coastline.
The marathon started in Scottburgh, headed north along the old South Coast Road, then on to Umkomaas, Ilfracombe, Umgababa, Winkelspruit and finally Amanzimtoti.

“All athletes must be congratulated as they tackled this very challenging route despite the intense heat,” said officials.
This event is a Comrades and Two Oceans qualifier. Free shirts were presented to all 42, 2km and 21, 1km runners who entered before September 24. Medals were handed out to all finishers.
