Police are advising women drivers to not leave their handbags and valuable items on the passenger seat or in plain sight while they are driving.
There has been an increase in car robberies and smash and grabs in moving motor vehicles in areas.

Phoenix SAPS communications officer, Cpt Louise Naidoo said many drivers, in particular female drivers, have a tendency to leave their handbags and other valuable items on the front seat.
This gives criminals easy access to steal the items. Even if windows are closed this will not deter a desperate criminal from smashing your window and grabbing what is on the seat.
She is appealing to all motorists to take a safe route and keep all valuables in the boot of the car while driving.
