Jan 6, 2020East London – The Eastern Cape Executive Council is expected to meet with Human Settlements, Water and Sanitation Minister, Lindiwe Sisulu on Monday morning in East London to discuss ways to respond to the worsening drought situation in the province.”At the meeting Minister Sisulu will present her department’s plans to provide relief to households in areas hard hit by drought such as Graaf Reinet, Amatole district amongst affected areas in the province,” said Eastern Cape Premier, Oscar Mabuyane’s office.”These are the places where the provincial government had declared drought in recent months.”Mayors from municipalities experiencing drought will attend this meeting.”At the end of the meeting, Premier Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane and Minister Sisulu are expected to brief the media about the outcomes of this meeting.Their focus will be more on how government will work to provide water to households in communities experiencing drought as water levels in a number of dams in the province are decreasing to below 50% capacity.Follow more RNEWS articles, subscribe to our YouTube channel and for breaking news LIKE us on Facebook.
