Prepare for the Stormy Weather.
On Wednesday, the Western Cape will be hit by a storm, that some sources say, could be similar to that which happened in May 1984. That one had a low pressure record of 984 millibars, as measured at the then DF Malan Airport. That storm caused major destruction in Somerset West with at least one house being completely destroyed, and a lot of other damage. The present cold front has a low pressure of 988 millibars at it’s centre.
Volunteers at the newly formed Helderberg Fire Watch have been placed on standby to assist should the need occur. Helderberg Crime Watch and service provider Vetus Schola will also be on full alert to assist.
So batten down the hatches and prepare yourself for a wet, windy and cold couple of days.
