President Cyril Ramaphosa has apologised to the people of Hanover Park for the delay…

President Cyril Ramaphosa has apologised to the people of Hanover Park for the delay in launching the anti gang unit. The President is doing a walkabout in the area ahead of the official launch of the unit this morning. The unit, made up of members from specialised units, began working in gang hot spots and crime ridden areas of the Cape flats last month. His walkabout started from the area where a member of the humanitarian aid organisation, the Gift of Givers, was gunned down last month. He also stopped at various houses to interact with members of the community. Ramaphosa was received warmly, with locals hugging him. He is accompanied by Police Minister, Bheki Cele and Western Cape premier, Helen Zille. Ramaphosa told members of the community that government is committed to create safe residential areas for all South Africans.
