Further arrests are being expected by provincial police after three alleged hijackers were apprehended during an intelligence-driven operation conducted by the Provincial Task Team in the KwaMashu area, last week.
The suspects were nabbed in the Siyanda area where they found with a number of car keys, suspected to be from hijacked vehicles.

Provincial police spokeswoman, Cpt Nqobile Gwala said the suspects were also found in possession of a VW Polo that was hijacked in the Newlands West area in June 2018.
It is believed that the vehicle was installed with a tracking device.
The tracking company located it in KwaMashu’s K section minutes after the incident. Immediately after spotting the tracking company vehicle, the suspects fired multiple gunshots.
The victim fled towards the police station, seeking assistance.
“He was not injured although his vehicle had a number of bullet holes. The suspects will be charged with possession of suspected stolen property, carjacking and will also be linked to an attempted murder,” she added.
