Some the illegal firearms which were seized during the police operations.
The Public Order Police in KwaZulu-Natal, assisted by Tactical Response within the Provincial Task Team, conducted operations aimed at eradicating the proliferation of firearms within the province, recently.
During this time, 64 firearms and 385 rounds of ammunition were seized.

Suspects were also arrested within various parts of the province for murder, kidnapping, attempted murder, robbery, house break-in, theft, malicious damage to property, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, drug possession and possession of suspected stolen property.
Provincial police spokeswoman, Cpt Nqobile Gwala said the recovered firearms included rifles, shotguns, pistols and revolvers. Other firearms were also found abandoned.
Eight stolen motor vehicles and more than five kilograms of cocaine were recovered as well.

The arrested suspects were charged duly.
“The recovered firearms will be subjected for ballistic testing to determine if they were used in any other crimes in the country,” Cpt Gwala confirmed.
