Numerous attempts to resuscitate a 61-year-old Tongaat resident, after she sustained critical injuries in a collision on the southbound lane of the R102, proved unsuccessful for medics.
The woman was declared dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred on Monday afternoon.

The Reaction Unit South Africa Operations Centre received multiple calls regarding the collision at about 1:44pm.
When reaction officers arrived at the scene, they found that a Toyota Corolla and VW Polo were involved in the crash.
“The 61-year-old Tongaat resident was seated behind the driver in the Toyota Corolla and was critically injured in the side impact collision. Paramedics from several private ambulance services attempted to resuscitate her at the scene without success,” a report issued by the security company stated.

The driver and a passenger in the Toyota Corolla and the driver of the VW Polo sustained moderate injuries and were transported to hospital by ambulance.
