Representatives from different nations, the South African Defence Force and the City of Cape Town are among those who are taking part in a wreath laying ceremony, in Cape Town, to commemorate the men and women who lost their lives during the First World War. The city of Cape Town joins the rest of the country, as well as the global community, in pausing to mark the 100th anniversary of the Armistice that brought World War One to an end. They also remembered their countrymen who died fighting on the other side of the world. The wreaths were laid at the cenotaph honoring the Second World War in Adderley street in Cape Town. As is the international custom, the group of South African and international Security forces also observed, ‘2 Minutes of Silence’ which is an integral part of Armistice Day.
