Residents of Kalkfontein in Kuils River have dispersed after they barricaded roads with burning…

Residents of Kalkfontein in Kuils River have dispersed after they barricaded roads with burning tyres earlier today. It is alleged the area has been without running water since yesterday. Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, JP Smith, says about 100 people took to the streets. The City of Cape Town says officials are currently working on the problem. The local authority says it appears as if a pressure valve system could have been tampered with. Law Enforcement agencies are monitoring the situation.

  1. We haven’t had water since around 2007. We only get water once or twice a week for a few minutes or hours if we’re lucky. We don’t know why this is. No one’s making any communication with us.
