Residents of various religious denominations in Bonteheuwel have stood together to pray for peace in the area and Cape Town. The interfaith prayer follows last week’s total shutdown protest against crime, gangsterism and unemployment. Ward councillor, Angus Mckenzie, says religion will unite the Bonteheuwel community for the sake of peace: “For the first time ever in the Bonteheuwel community right in the centre of Bonteheuwel we were able to bring people from the Muslim faith and Christian faith together. They held hands in praying for peace, not just in Bonteheuwel but across the Cape Flats and across Cape Town where gangsterism is really becoming a major issue.”
