The progeny of two South African stalwarts, Dr Albertina Luthuli, daughter of Africa’s first Nobel Peace Prize winner, Nkosi Albert Luthuli, and Salema ‘Sal’ Masekela, the son of legendary jazz musician, Hugh Masekela ponder upon their iconic fathers’ contributions in shaping the history of South Africa, sitting on the bench where Chief Luthuli and US Senator Robert F Kennedy once sat in 1966. International action sport commentator, Sal Masekela, the son of jazz great Hugh Masekela, attended the special opening of the community swimming pool at Shaka’s Head, recently.
The children had a unique opportunity of swimming and engaging with inspirational Sal during the opening.

He is the proud event ambassador for the 2019 Ballito Pro presented by O’Neill.
Sal is on an African Surf Adventure around KwaDukuza to embrace all that the area has to offer.
The project is part of KwaDukuza’s commitment to uplift local communities, and will be used by Ubuntu Learn to Surf and Swim Club to teach young children the essential skill of swimming.
