The New Nation Movement, a new political party is challenging the current Electoral Act with regard to the General Elections in South Africa.
In a case that was heard at the Western Cape High Court yesterday, the organisation argues that the current system has excluding independent candidates to stand for Public Office both in the Legislatures as well as in Parliament.
Currently, independent candidates can only contest at local government level. Judgement on the case has been reserved.
