Swimmers from Verulam Aquatic Club participated in the Ushaka Championship held in Richards Bay, recently. Two days of fierce competition resulted in 27 new records being broken.
Ten KZN swimming clubs competed in the annual uShaka Swimming Club Championship gala held at the Arboretum Swimming Pool in Richards Bay.
Boys and girls, aged from under nine to open, competed in 142 events collecting vital points for their club.

Ten-year-old Kirisha Brijlal, a grade six pupil of Hopeville Primary School, competed in the 11 and under category and won silver and three bronze medals.
While 13-year-old sister, Sherisha, who is a grade nine pupil at Sastri College won four gold and two silver medals, swimming in the 12 to 13 years age group.
Coach, Tess Pillay was proud of their achievements. Verulam Aquatic is a community-based club which trains at Verulam Swimming Pool on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
