South African theatre stages are alive this festive time with song & dance, comedy, love and intrigue and showtime magic! Top class, colourful, lively, inventive and fun shows are drawing young and old to playhouses in the Mother City and Jozi. Cape comedian, Marc Lottering’s production, “Aunty Merle, The Musical”, is drawing full houses for a third season at the Baxter, before opening at the Joburg Theatre in February next year. The other crowd puller is David Kramer’s new show, “Langarm”, at the Fugard Theatre in District Six. The well polished and stylish dance production has been drawing capacity crowds since November and its run has just been extended to March 2019 due to overwhelming demand. In Jozi, the Joburg Theatre’s annual pantomime is having both kids and adults alike screaming, laughing and mesmerised with this year’s production of, “Snow White”. Remaining true to the spirit of the festive period, Charles Dickens’, “A Christmas Carol”, is wearing a brand new interactive jacket at Montecasino in Fourways. Van Rensburg Theatrical says the show boasts animation and original music.
