EVERY day, without fail, Thembakazi Maduna catches the Rea Vaya bus to work. As soon as she gets into the bus, she starts preaching the word of God. The 33-year-old preacher from Zam’impilo squatter camp, west of Joburg, told Daily Sun all she wanted to do was serve Jesus Christ and she had no time for men. When the SunTeam saw her in the bus earlier this week, she broke into song and many passengers joined in. She took out her Bible and started preaching. Some commuters even started praying. Thembakazi said she accepted Jesus into her life at the age of 14 after having a vision in church. However, she later started dating boyfriends and going to clubs.“But that life left me broke and God helped me to change my ways.“Now the Lord has called on me to preach his word.”Thembakazi said her dream was to get a car with a megaphone on top so she could reach more people. “Preaching has always been my thing. “As a child, whenever I saw Christians, something would stir in me and made me feel like I belonged,” she said. Although not all commuters were happy with her preaching, Thembakazi said she didn’t care.
