The gathering took decisions on measures of fighting crime, and recommitted the community in creating an environment of peace and vigilance amongst its residents.
We have noted two violent seperate incidents which took place in the community since yesterday. On the first incident at the Old Mutual show houses, we received information through reliable sources of a fatal shooting that took place in the early hours of Sunday morning, after an evening of partying at the premises where it’s reported a fight broke out, which for now is suspected to have led to the shooting incident according to sources. Police are still investigating the matter, as Thembokwezi CPF we encourage anyone with information to go to SAPS to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book. In another seperate incident this afternoon an unknown male has been burnt to death, after being chased from Site C, again at the Old Mutual development field, and it’s still not clear what has led to the killing and burning of the deceased. We again urge community members with information to work with SAPS to get to the bottom of this killing.
As the Thembokwezi CPF we condemn any form of violence that occurs in the area, no matter the circumstances, taking a person’s life is illegal and the law should take its course without fear or favour.
We shall continue to work with our community to ensure that there is peace, stability and create an environment that promotes safer community in Thembokwezi for its residents.
