Stonebridge karatekas participate in regional championship | Phoenix Sun

Sensei, Denver Moonsamy together with students who excelled at the championship.

Twenty-five young karatekas from the International Federation of Funakoshi Shotokan Karate Stonebridge attended and participated in the 30th regional championship, held recently.
The young students bagged an outstanding 30 medals. Eight of these medals were gold while ten were silver and 12 were bronze.

The championship is hosted annually and attracts all its affiliated dojos within the province of KwaZulu-Natal to display their traditional kata and kumite skills at the competition.
Club instructor, Sensei Denver Moonsamy as well as the general secretary of the sporting organisation expressed how proud he was of all his students who participated and received medals at the championship.
He further thanked the president and chief instructor of the organisation, Hanshi Eric Govender (8th Dan) for instilling the true spirit of karate in him so that he could be fully equipped to share this knowledge with the youth of today.
