Four armed suspects robbed a tavern on Hannaford Road, last Friday. The suspects stole cash, cellphones, alcohol and cigarettes.
The manager of the store alleges that he was behind the counter and there were about 20 patrons in the tavern when four men entered.

One of the suspects went up to the manager, pointed a firearm at him and pulled him by his T-shirt and made him lie on the floor together with all patrons and workers.
The suspects took the manager’s cellphone from his pocket before taking a total of R4, 000 from the patrons. Two suspects went behind the counter and removed R8, 000 from the till and a bag with R14, 000.
They also took cigarettes to the value of R1, 000 and liquor to the value of R960. The suspects then fled the scene. Cpt Louise Naidoo, communications officer of Phoenix SAPS, said four men, all armed, entered the tavern and took cigarettes and liquor.

Cash and cellphones were also taken from patrons. A case of business robbery has been opened and is currently under investigation at Phoenix SAPS.
“Sgt Qwabe and Sgt Mpisi attended. Patrons were intoxicated and statements could not be obtained immediately at the scene. No arrests have been made yet,” she added.
