The ANC’s head of presidency, Zizi Kodwa, has denied allegations by a woman that he raped her at a private party in April last year. In a statement Kodwa released this morning, he says a letter sent by the woman to the party’s office of the secretary-general is replete with false accusations and part of what he termed a dirty tricks campaign. According to Kodwa, the accusations of rape, sexual assault and drugging two women are false and a feeble yet dangerous attempt at political blackmail and manipulation. ANC acting spokesperson, Dakota Legoete, says there is not much they can say about the allegations, as this is a case that should be opened with the police: “Currently there is no decision from the side of the ANC, the officials and the NWC they will only be sitting tomorrow in the afternoon. I am sure if this particular matter is brought up they will advise on what cause of action to take. But let the matter be taken where it is supposed to be so that there can be further investigation so that facts can be extracted from fiction. And for now I know comrade Kodwa is a leader as acting spokesperson, I work directly with him every day and we have every confidence in his leadership, but I cannot speak on the matter of the allegations against him.”
