The banking sector and police say the public must to beware of an increase in bank scams in the run up to the festive season. This warning was issued at the Banking Risk Information Centre, or SABRIC’s festive season awareness campaign – that was launched in Cape Town. SABRIC Chief Executive, Kalyani Pillay, says the campaign is aimed at creating awareness about how criminals are operating in the banking world: “Don’t allow anyone to come and help you at the ATM, also very important still remember to cover the keypad when you are at the ATM. When you transact online make sure that you are at the website that is https and don’t put in your bank details also do not respond to any email any SMS or any phone call from anybody.”
