The Black People’s National Crisis Committee says it does not need permission from the City of Cape Town regarding its sunset protest this evening at Clifton’s Fourth Beach. this follows an incident on Sunday night when security guards of a private company allegedly told a group of picnickers to leave the beach. The incident has sparked widespread outrage. Spokesperson for the group, Ncedisa Mpemnyama: “We have talked to the city and they never were forthcoming. So if people want permission from us to march, they must also get permission from the racists not to be racist. We are committed young people who want to see a change and we are not to be held back by funny laws that were made during apartheid that want to contain resistance to racism. Why should we get permission from the City of Cape Town.” The City of Cape Town says the Black People’s National Crisis Committee does not need permission for it’s planned protest at Clifton Beach. City’s Director of Safety and Security, Richard Bosman, says law enforcement officials will be deployed to monitor the protest. “We’ve been notified that there’s a planned protest on Clifton Beach this evening. Permission is not required for this protest to take place. The beach is a public area and there’s also been a recent Constitutional Court decision indicating that people don’t need to apply for permission to protest, as long as the protest is peaceful and people aren’t armed, they don’t need permission to protest on the beach.”

  1. Isn’t it just amazing how it is Sabc news keeping this alive. It is like a Christmas gift to their slanted news coverage

  2. This was not a racial issue at all due to the fact that they wanted everyone off the beach why protest ? People were just doing their job and i dont see why the public arent allowed on the beach after hours. Instead of chasing the people away rather get a few police members to patrol and create awareness and make people feel safer. Whats the point in living in such a beautiful place if we are told when and when not to be there ???
