The City of Cape Town has advised residents to plan ahead to ensure they are not caught off-guard during load shedding. Eskom has confirmed Stage Four load shedding from three o’clock this afternoon until ten tonight. The City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Energy and Climate Change, Phindile Maxiti, says there are a few simple tips to ensure that residents are prepared: “People must at least make sure they have some fuel in their tanks, because when you receive loads hedding, when you go to the fuel station you find the pumps are not working. When you get to the ATM you will find the ATM is off, so make sure you keep some cash, not a lot. You have your cellphone everything that uses batteries, so people must make sure they charge it to the fullest to make sure they can wait till electricity comes back.”

  1. Why in this day and age are we living like this?
They tell us to be prepared, yet nothing is prepared on their side, load shedding is announced suddenly and half way through the day they change the level. Seriously?? Why is no one being held accountable, where’s the service delivery pride? Then when people want to go off the grid, they have to conform to all sorts of rules.
