The City of Cape Town has condemned the violent attack on three City employees…

The City of Cape Town has condemned the violent attack on three City employees from the Electricity Department which occurred in Gugulethu. They were assaulted while rendering electricity services in the area. A City vehicle was damaged and another vehicle was torched during the incident. Mayoral Committee Member for Energy, Xanthea Limberg, says two of the employees are in a stable condition in hospital, while one is still critical: “The victims of the attacks are in our thoughts and we are investigating how the City can assist these workers and their families. A City reward of up to R5000 is on offer for anyone providing information that leads to an arrest, the confiscation of stolen goods or the handing in of illegal or stolen goods.”

  1. They should’ve had law enforcement there atleast…its not safe!!! I dont understand why we don’t get protection while we working in dangerous areas.

  2. I know of other utility staff who refuse to work in certain places without security. City of Cape Town please let your staff be accompanied by law enforcement or some form of security when working in hot spots?
