The City of Cape Town says its restored the water supply at Kalkfontein in Kuils River. This after residents set alight burning tyres and blockaded roads earlier today. Mayoral Committee Member for Water, Xanthea Limberg, says the cause of the water cuts was due to vandalism of a water valve system. She says the City managed to fixed the valves under police protection.

  1. Am a Kalkfontein Kuilsrivier resident I personally think they should put security around that place to prevent vandalism again. My whole weekend was ruined bcz they wasn’t water.

  2. What police protection, we as Community can’t harm people who is fixing a water problem for the community to benifit out of it, we are not stupid Community members in Kalkfontein and Sarepta. Thank you for speedy availability for water for Kalkfontein, thks.after how many hours. You as the city must have plan -b always.

  3. Cllr Limberg must get proper reports before speaking to the media. The police was send to the area when people started protesting and not to protect the people who came to fix what ever was broken by vandals. They r at their best sending Police to do their dirty Work. Why did she not go with the ward cllrs to address the community. Atleast we would have had one version of the story. We now know it was due to vandalism not like the ward cllr told people about lots of developments that hve an impact on water supply
