The Civil Aviation Authority says the cause of an emergency landing on the N7 outside Malmesbury will be investigated. The pilot of the Cessna 206 landed this afternoon on the provincial road in the direction of Mooreesburg after it developed apparent engine failure. CAA spokesperson Kabelo Ledwaba says the aircraft was intending to land back at the local airfield after conducting a paradropping exercise. No injuries were reported and there was no damage to the craft or other property. A mechanic repaired the engine and Provincial Traffic officials briefly closed the N7 while the aircraft took off without any further incident. Ledwaba says CAA inspectors will investigate why the engine failed.
