The Correctional Services Department says it is pleased with the recent launch of the continent’s first-ever prison radio station at Brandvlei Correctionlal Facility outside Worcester in the Boland. Basic Radio 98-point-7 aims to give prisoners a voice‚ while teaching them new skills and rehabilitating them. Western Cape regional commissioner, Delekile Klaas says Radio 98-point-7 is fully digital and is operated by inmates themselves. He says, “For those who are watching and listening to the radio, it gives them hope that despite the fact that they are in a correctional facility, they are arrested, they can turn their lives around. It begins to say to them that for every offender that comes in thinking that life have become hopeless for him, there is the possibility for change. ” The prisoners broadcasting at the station say they are grateful for the opportunity.

  1. I disagree imagine listening to the same voice that killed or raped one of your family member.. Things we going through in Mzansi not cool at all. But who am I to judge

  2. These days its nicer to be in prison. You can study for free, listen radio, be on facebook. More like a holiday
